Street Fighting
There's a major difference between fighting in a ring, practicing in a martial arts school, and fighting in the street. Before you read further, you should check out my bio
Paul Barrett's Bio.
I have been in countless street fights. In fact, I was in 8 street fights in one week. I'm not bragging, it's just a fact. Street fighting is something I do well. However, since I have grown older and wiser, street fighting is something I try to avoid as much as possible. But as you know, sh*t happens.
In the past, my reputation was that of a bad guy. And my bad guy reputation spread further than I realized. In fact, the black belts in my master's martial arts school knew who I was. One day they approached the master and told him I was a bad guy and should be banned from the school. My master told me that I must change and stay out of trouble. Like a big brother, he spent extra time mentoring and instructing me.
I practiced directly under my master's instruction for almost 14 years, which included Ki Exercise and Meditation, and martial arts training. In time, I became a positive person who contributes to society. I also developed empathy for the plight of other people, and become a sheepdog who cares about the safety of my fellow citizens.
What protected me, and made me so decisive in a street fight? Natural speed, strength and athletic ability helped quite a bit. Plus my father's instruction in boxing starting at age 5, firearm training, and martial arts training helped.
Reflecting back in time, I see in my father a calmness in the face of adversity. I believe that I inherited my dad's ability to remain calm, even in the midst of a violent street fight. Along with the ability to remain cool and calm, I was gifted with high intelligence, a love of fighting, high level fighting skills, and street smarts. I become practically invincible in the streets. No one seemed able to put me down. Of course there is always someone a lot tougher, and I did manage to loose a few - mostly when I was drunk: see fight stories.
I also became good at street fighting because I was smaller and my adversaries underestimated my a capabilities. When I unleashed a fury of violence, it was like shock and awe. The opponent was taken off guard and destroyed.
To survive on the street, I had to use my wits along with strength and speed. After each fight, I analyzed my actions and found ways to improve my skills; like I did in my first knife fight.
As I grew taller and larger, I became very dangerous and someone you did not to mess with. It became very simple, if you engaged me - you got hurt. Period!
Basically, there are two types of people drawn to martial arts. Those who have street fighting experience. They are natural fighters who need to have an outlet for their aggression and love of battle. Then there are those who were bullied and picked on. Maybe someone just gave them a beat down. Now they want to be able to defend themselves. And sometimes they are seeking revenge. So they join a martial art school.
Those with extensive street fighting experience may not need or want my street defense course. However, if you are not a black belt, and you have little experience in the street, then the Extreme Combat Street Defense course is for you.

Black Belt Evaluation - If you are a black belt, ask yourself, how good are you at defending yourself in the street or a life threatening incident? Too often training in the same school under the same instructors will often give you a false sense of security or an exaggerated confidence in your capabilities. Sometimes an outside observer can shed light into the reality of your ability to defend yourself. I have been in countless street fights, had a fight club in my basement, several years of full contact training, boxing experience, and extensive martial arts training. I do not mess around. If you would like me to evaluate your self defense skills or you feel you need to enhance your skills for the street I can help. Sign up for my Black Belt Evaluation course.
Black Belt Street Fighting - This course if for black belts, and teaches you how to use your skills in a street fight encounter. For example, MMA fighters need to adapt to more aggressive take down defenses. In the street, going to the ground can be deadly. Other martial artists need to learn sparring and full contact, as well as using an edged weapon or firearm. Through hundreds of street fighting experiences, I know what works and what does not. Street Fighting Secrets
There are no rules in the street. You can't be saved by the bell. Not only can the opponent kick you in the groin, they can pull a weapon.
Are You Prepared?
In the street there is no safety equipment. No padded mats. And the opponent is using full force contact. He is trying to cause extreme injury.
