Ki Exercise and Meditation
The Power of Ki
by Paul Barrett
Paul Barrett is an Expert in Ki Exercise and Meditation
Ki is pronounced like KEY
Ki is an energy that is developed through the practice of Ki exercise and meditation. It helps energize the body and deal with negativity. The martial art Hapkido - Hap Ki Do - is centered around the concept of Ki.
There is a degree of negativity in studying combative martial arts and dealing with the negativity of addressing the violence in the world. To be capable in self defense you need to be aware, alert, and ready to defend yourself at all times.
In the process of defending yourself you need to be able to bash in a person's face or worse. Possibly take a life. Unless you are willing to do that in a defense situation, you will become a victim of violence. That is a negative reality. In light of the negativity in our world, the study and practice of Ki helps maintain a positive attitude, buoyant spirit, and a loving disposition. It is a counter balance to the negativity in the world around you.
To those individuals who have never heard of Ki, I would like to give you insight. Ki exercise and meditation includes deep abdominal breathing and stretching.
Ki is a super charging energizer. Once developed, Ki gives the martial artist super power. Although not everyone has the ability to become adept in the development of high levels of Ki energy, everyone will gain an advantage.
Ki helps a martial artist develop and control the flow of adrenaline and at the same time counter the toxic affects of adrenaline.
Ki exercises include Tan Jan Ho Hup - a very powerful method of developing Ki.
The development of high levels of Ki, helps protect the body in combat.
Not only is Ki exercise and meditation used to improve combat skills, it is also used for health and success in life.
I am not making medical claims or promises, but some of the benefits acknowledged by Ki practitioners include the following:
Scientific Studies and Medical Journals constantly confirm that deep breathing methods have the ability to lower blood pressure, treat illness, and eliminate pain.
It is believed by Ki practitioners that you have the Power to breathe disease out of your body to obtain a super level of health without drugs, surgery and high medical costs!
It is believed that Ki is an incredible method for healing yourself. Students have reported miracle healing from the ancient and mysterious healing art of Ki. Some of those reported miracles include the ability to:
Just how Ki heals and improves health may continue to elude doctors for hundreds of years. Fortunately you have the ability to tap into the power of Ki this very day.
Ki is like Super Powered Yoga – Transcendental Meditation on Steroids
Ki exercise is like a super powered form of yoga. Ki meditation is like Transcendental Meditation on steroids. My master instructed an eighty six year old lady who could barely walk. After several Ki sessions she was able to break a 1 inch pine board at a demonstration!
I tried yoga and it feels ok but it leaves me feeling wimpy. Like a weak rag doll. Compared to Ki, Yoga is powerless. Ki on the other hand makes me feel super powered, like I could break through any obstacle, and overcome any difficulty.
We often have people break boards, or walk on glass or hot coals. Ki gives you superpower to feel undefeatable.
Ki is also like Transcendental Meditation, but much more powerful. When I say it's like TM on steroids, I am not exaggerating. TM often leaves people relaxed, but "empty headed" like a space cadet. TM has no real measurable objective. It's filled with obscure notions alluding to some altered form of reality that is purposeless in our everyday life. Ki, on the other hand, will not only relax your body and mind, but it will also jettison your thoughts into a powerful field of unconquerable action.
Life Force – Internal Power
Ki can be thought of as the energy that animates our life force. It is often called vitality, internal power, Chi, Ki gong, etc. It is a combination of air (oxygen), adrenalin, electrical impulse - acupuncture and acupressure, a mysterious fluid within the body, and more. Ki is within us, but is is also in the universe.
Ki is part of our mind. A strong mind develops Ki and Ki develops a strong mind. Ki is also thought of as a spiritual energy; it is part of the God force. But it has no real necessity to be integrated into a religion. You can practice Ki as a Christian, Buddhist etc. or an atheist.
I know that Ki has helped heal me physically, and kept me free any disease. It has kept me healthy. In fact, I have not been to a doctor for over 35 years. Currently I am over 62 years old and feel like a young man.
Besides physical benefits, I will show you how Ki can help you overcome obstacles, and improve your life.
Ki Meridians
It is well known that there is a scientifically undefined energy within the body that travels through pathways known as meridians. There are fourteen meridians in the body and each meridian consists of many sensitive points called hyul in Korean or Acupoints in English. On these points an acupuncturist (Chim Sool Sah) inserts needles or an acupuncturist (Ji Ahp Sah) presses with his fingers. Acupuncture and Acupressure are known for relieving pain and improving health.
The Teachings of Master Chang
I began studying Ki in the early 1980's under Master Chang. Master Chang is a Hapkido and Taekwondo master as well as a Master of Ki. To most individuals in the western world the concept of Ki is unknown. Even in the East, Ki is a mystery and only taught to an elite few. I studied under Master Chang for almost 14 years.
Every morning at 5:30 I would go to Ki class. It was not always the most enjoyable experience to wake up that early in the morning to the freezing Chicago winters, and scrape ice off the windows, only to sit in a cold Dojang; studying something that may not exist. But it wasn't long before I could sense the power of this amazing thing called, Ki. After many years of practice, I become an expert in Ki.
Once I experienced the power of Ki energy, I could not go back to the old life. This energy animated me with an unconquerable, victorious power. I was undefeatable. Besides that, I felt wonderful and healthy. My thoughts began to be positive, loving, and filled with happiness. This Ki power was miraculous.
Attending Sunrise Ki class was optional; not all Master Chang's martial art students attended. But I noticed that those who attended had an edge. They were stronger, faster, and more durable.
Injuries that would have rendered most individuals incapacitated were sometimes healed in hours. Broken toes, fingers, noses, ribs, etc. seemed to heal in record time.
One of our senior black belts, broke a leg in a skiing accident. The cast was supposed stay on for several months. After 3 days, he sat in the bathtub and peeled the cast off. He immediately went back to training.
I was kicked in the knee cap and the patella bone was dislocated. I was given a elastic cast and told it would take months to return to martial arts training. In a couple of days, I was back in class. Injuries became less and less, and healed faster and faster.
Controlling Pain
Another amazing property of high levels of Ki is pain control. No matter how serious the injury, I never took pain medication or aspirins. Most pain can be totally controlled with Ki. Not with mental concentration. Student of Ki always compared notes of the various ways they used Ki to stop pain.
When visiting the dentist, I always refused Novocain. One time I needed a root canal instead of
Novocain, I used Ki. It was a challenge. During the root canal process, I felt no pain when I breathed and put my mind in a different place. The dentist was nervous. He stopped and said are you sure you don't want Novocain? " I'm hitting a nerve" When he broke my concentration I could feel a bit of pain. I told him I was fine and he continued.
The practice of Ki was instrumental in learning to heal injuries. Ki gave us a protective force field. Protective energy that shielded the body from injury. Ki can do this in anyone's daily life. Many of my students have protected themselves from injury and disease using Ki.
Extraordinary Strength and Power
The difference between Ki and using physical power is quite extraordinary. Ki gave us the power to easily break boards, and bricks. A small girl weighing only 105 pounds with soft delicate hands was able to break a 1 inch board using only one finger. None of the muscular men in the audience could do it.
Other examples of Ki strength can happen spontaneous without training when the body releases tremendous amounts of adrenalin. Everyone has heard stories of a mother picking up a car to save a child. Adrenalin is a part of the Ki force. Ki helps a practitioner control their adrenalin, but Ki is much more.
When you practice Ki, you can actually feel the energy and power. I would often sit on my balcony during the Chicago winter winds, where the wind chill factor was below zero, in nothing but a pair of shorts. I would do this for up to 15 minutes at a time. s you an incredible energy. (To learn more about the martial arts and how it can help increase your confidence, discipline and more click here: Hapkido
Positive Thoughts
The power of our thoughts and beliefs will affect the quality of our lives. Our thoughts also control and program out subconscious mind. We are what we think. Ki is fostered in the soil of a positive mind. It becomes a positive healing energy. Positive thoughts are seeds that grow into an enjoyable productive life.
Control Emotions with Breathing
Master Chang, "Breathing itself is a mirror to our mind; it reveals our inner state. When we are angry our breathing is shallow; when we are relaxed it is long and deep; when we are afraid our breathing speeds up. There is a definite link between our emotional state and the oxygen we take into our body." This is so true. Our breathing will have an impact on how we react in an emergency situation.
Not just safe, but downright pleasurable
Best of all, as you perform these techniques, you will actually feel the warm, healing force of Ki. You'll feel it begin in your brain, run down your spinal cord and lower back, and flood through your entire body. And you'll feel peaceful, energized, free of stress at last.
But don't just sit there wondering if this is for real. Find out! Join me for a session of Sunrise Ki.
If you attend one of my Ki classes -- Ki has protected me in many sparring sessions and street encounters. It is a power that can be developed to help you defend yourself, increase concentration, improve health, as well as relax.
