Sheepdog Citizens
What is a sheepdog citizen? From a historical perspective, a sheepdog is a working dog who played a vital role to help a shepherd keep a flock of sheep safe.
Today, the term sheepdog as been extrapolated to include those individuals who have a propensity for protecting others.
In the real world, which is often extremely violent, the majority of individuals are sheepish in nature. They lack the inner fortitude, the mental acumen, or any physical traits needed with which to defend themselves. They are passive in nature and will succumb to the demands and assault of a criminal.
Opposite the sheep are violent criminal individuals who actively prey upon sheep. These individuals are considered wolves. Any sheep in their path they will rip to shreds.
Between the sheep and the wolves, stands the sheepdog. A sheepdog is a person who can face violence and stand firm without wavering. The sheepdog citizen will stand up against the criminal wolf and defend the helpless sheep.
In violent encounters the majority of citizens will stand by and watch another person being violated. They will not jump in, or offer assistance. A sheepdog, on the other hand, is not able to stand by. The sheepdog, has within themselves a moral compass, and a fighting spirit, that cannot tolerate watching another person being victimized. When encountering a sheep being victimized by a wolf, a sheepdog will engage the wolf to protect the sheep.
To a sheepdog, their own safety and well being, is put on the line to defend a sheep. They do not hesitate, they do not think of the danger, they simply act to defend the helpless sheep.
Many law enforcement officers, military personal, and civilians have within themselves, the inner characteristics of a sheepdog. They are the protectors of the innocent.
In my own life, I have been both a wolf and a sheepdog. Only after coming face to face with the deepest part of my inner being did I come full circle and realize that in my heart of hearts, I was not a wolf. I was in fact, a sheepdog. I believe when people nurture and grow in spirit they will awaken to a deep empathy for other people. It is then that they will develop into protectors of the innocent and become sheepdogs.
When you take my courses and develop your skills, and deepen your understanding, I hope you also come to this turning point where you join the ranks of sheepdogs who are prepared to stand up to the criminal predators of this world; who like raving wolves prey on the helpless sheep. Strengthening yourself, and developing the skills to defend yourself and others, often brings the inner sheepdog out of otherwise passive sheep.
